A faction of the politically incorrect far right wing of the Republican Party would eliminate the Department of Education claiming it is unconstitutional and unnecessary. However most legislatures, Republicans and Democrats, see the department as constitutional and removing it from cabinet level status would deter many from receiving an education, increase poverty and eventually lead to a decadent society at a much higher cost.
Education is essential to our National security, the economy and our civil rights and should be further centralized along with the “No Child Left Behind Act” to ensure all citizens of all states a fair and equal opportunity on a National level and for the U.S. to be more competitive on an International level.
States should control operational and curriculum policy in our schools for better connectivity to local businesses and communities they serve. Business leaders and civic groups should be directly involved in forming policy, including what is taught in the classroom, and more effectively transition students into the workforce.
It is imperative we place greater emphasis on Education, not less, to insure that we remain the greatest Nation in the World… and we can do that.
